What's Involved With the Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary?

Located in the Nevada desert in the city of Las Vegas, The Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary is a true outdoor paradise. The nature park was originally built to be a place where nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers could get away from it all, spend some time out in the wilderness, or take advantage of all the sights and sounds that a wild desert can offer.

One of the best features of the Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary is the natural bridge that spans the "Waters Edge" where the Nevada-Oregon border meets the Las Vegas Strip. The bridge provides an incredible view of the desert floor that stretches all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. The bridge offers visitors easy access to the various amenities of the park. It connects visitors to the campgrounds that are scattered throughout the park. There, you will find many RV campgrounds and camping areas that have tent pads, and even air mattresses and camping furniture!

As with any other park, there are a few rules and regulations that apply to the Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary. Because the area is surrounded by a fence, the only way in and out of the park is through the main gate. The gate has several security systems in place to ensure that visitors are kept safe and that the area is not accessed in such a fashion that it breaches security. There are also signs located around the area that will let you know when you can enter the park, how long you may stay, and what is and isn't allowed inside. There are also several picnic areas, cabins, and RV parks located around the park that will allow you to stay for the night if you so desire. The park is open late at night most of the time, and is a great spot for those who want to escape the city to enjoy some nature time with their friends and family!
